Re: Land Naga idea
a naga like that would have to be in the jungles. forests don't work well, since forest snakes wouldn't be bright in color. They couldn't hide, without a LOT of coverings (clothes, plants, etc.) and they are so large that wolves and other large pack animals, or bears and furbolgs (alliances?) would take them out. The snakes couldn't climb trees, so they're stuck on the ground. THey'll HAVE to be in jungles or marshes just to have an advantage.

Re: Land Naga idea
and what is the problem with having a land variety so you can assure Naga dominance when your ocean Naga can't remain out of the water for days on end? When that is what's stopping you, you just create some land naga! :D Venemous by nature, and cunning, and finally: able to remain on land forever withour drawbacks :D

Re: Land Naga idea
._. Im just trying to say there isn't cobra nagas in lore, and in my little head, cobra naga is bad idea, and there is no diffrence between land / sea naga. Because nage came from the see to land, summoned by lord Illidan.

well, have you ever noticed that the sea naga have fins in their backs? land nagas wouldn't need those fins.

Re: Land Naga idea
and the naga under llidan's control and those serving Azshara, tend to remain near water? You don't see naga in the deserts, cause they have to keep relatively moist. Now, Cobra Nagas are logical, because, even though they would die if they attempted to join their Oceanic brethren, they would survive well in jungles and forests, even deserts, as desert snakes do.
No, they don't appear in WoW lore, but that doesn't mean they aren't impossible, just unable to be living side by side in the underwater Naga cities (they breath air, and wouldn't be able to survive in salt water. Also, they wouldn't be able to swim far, swimming long distances being foreign to them.)

lol cobras only live in very mild climates, like jungles andareas around India. no where else. and they wouldn't need the thrill if they didn't live in the jungle.

Re: Land Naga idea
"The naga are former highborne night elves who mutated into vengeful humanoid sea serpents. While many remain on Azeroth to attempt to reclaim the surface world, a large group followed the power-mad betrayer, Illidan Stormrage, into Outland and proceeded to claim the watery areas of the shattered land. In addition to their natural longevity, a number of naga develop mutations that increase their life spans even further. Some are immortal."
Naga are sinister, ophidian humanoids that dwell beneath the ocean. Theirs is an ancient and mystical culture, for ten thousand years ago they were Kaldorei.
Ten thousand years ago, during the reign of Queen Azshara, there was an elite magic-using sect known as the Highborne, who dabbled in magics that many other elves considered reckless and irresponsible by drawing upon the power of the Well of Eternity. The high-borne elves enjoyed great power and comfort before the War of the Ancients. During that conflict, the Highborne sought to abuse arcane magic to bring demons to the world. This action led to the War itself, in which the night elves, at great cost, defeated the Burning Legion. The magical backlash shattered the world, imploded the Well of Eternity, and blasted the Highborne’s capital city to the bottom of the ocean.MG 105 Many were cast far into the flooding depths of the great cataclysm that sundered the land and destroyed the Well of Eternity; it was Queen Azshara's quick thinking that saved them. She managed to make a pact with the Old Gods on behalf of her people. With the Old Gods'Sund curse they started to change. Since then they have further been twisted by the residual cascading energies of the Well of Eternity They took on new shapes, new powers and became the hateful, serpentine naga.
"When the naga awakened, they set about building a new life for themselves on the ocean depths, within the abyssal sea trench beneath the swirling waters of the Maelstrom they built their new city, Nazjatar. Azshara herself expanded with hate and rage, becoming a massive monstrosity, reflecting the wickedness and malice that had always hidden within her core. For 10,000 years, these elves of the abyss dwelt in a dark and powerful empire. Pagodas and balconies line the deep trenches, glimmering lights picking out the shapes of cities in the cold black. Sinuous figures drift and twist along the passageways, their elven origins difficult to discern"
"Naga only marginally resemble the noble race they once were. Their proud Kaldorei visages are warped and twisted. The naga are part night elf, part serpent, and some have evolved bizarre oceanic mutations. The Well of Eternity’s residual energies are unpredictable, and their mutative power manifests in different ways. In all naga, many of these mutations are simply cosmetic — soft spines running down their backs, or extra fins adorning their arms, for instance. Some naga, though, also possess mutations that have a more substantial effect. In this way, the race has developed an array of genetic variations and defenses, such as ink jets, tentacles, razor fins, venomous fangs, hardened barnacle carapaces and spined fists. Naga men are bestial and considered less intelligent than females, but are remarkably strong and tough, able to withstand a great deal of bodily injury. Naga women more resemble the kaldorei from whom they came, their faces fair, even beautiful. This unearthly splendor is ruined by their monstrous deformities — they often have multiple limbs (four to six arms). Naga average 6 1/2 feet tall, and naga men are much bulkier than women.
Naga are now serpent-like humanoids. The men are thickly built, with humanoid torsos merging into a serpent hind section. Their scales are large and thick, and their heads are reminiscent of dragons, showing little sign of their elven ancestry. The women are tall and slender, with fine scales covering their angular
features."
Naga typically speak their own language, Nazja, and most know Common. For various reasons, individual Naga learn to speak with the creatures with which they interact. Some also learn the language of their heritage, Darnassian(or may even remember it).
Naga society is female dominated; they are considered the intellectual superiors and possess the greater magical power. Males can rise to prominence and even lead communities, but there is a limit to what they can achieve. In terms of class, this makes them the opposite of the night elves they evolved from, where males typically work magic and females fight (though the kaldorei lack intellect-based prejudice). "

Re: Land Naga idea
yes... I already said that (not in such a massive quote, but breif version) I am just saying how a land naga, like a cobra naga, would not be able to live out in sea (no gills, and unable to swim massive distances that the sea naga can). Instead, they would remain closer to land, and possibly drier places like deserts and jungles. (people have found cobras out in the desert)
I don't know what the big fuss about whether or not a surface dwelling naga would be logical or a good addition to naga forces, but I think it is. Any areas that the ocean naga would be unable to get to, the land naga could (no requirement to keep relatively moist or keep parts of themselves wet (dunno if needed). Also, land naga would naturally be able to sqeeuze through smaller holes than the ocean naga, having had to use it to escape hunts, and even to hunt down their prey.

there is a difference. You hear sea snakes often enough, and guess what naga are? sea snakes with arms.

Re: Land Naga idea
just read that my copy-pasta ála wowwiki so you know about naga, that cobra naga is just ugly
and non-sense!
it is such a new race if its even something.
dont mess it with "naga" naga is one race,
theres no diffrence in nagas,
they are just in diffrent colored and male or female.
and they can be in diffrent "clans" or "tribes" what
ever that word is..
in nutshell, naga is naga, there is no such thing as "land naga"
try to invent new name for that...

well, it still IS a naga. Naga means snake/serpent. So, no matter whether its land or sea, its still a naga. Just adapted for different climates :P

Re: Land Naga idea
lol actually, you're wrong. there are more differences than just color and gender. some naga have spikes, shells (naga lord), special attributes like poison or stealth, magic or super strength (beyond normal naga), some aren't even snakes (octopuses, lobster-like, pick a water creature. Azshara is shown to not be a naga in the Blizzard concept).

Re: Land Naga idea
Hmm.. 1. What naga's except for Naga Lord's (1) have spikes? And what is.. ''super strength'' ? And what naga is Octopus, Lobster, and umm.. Shark-man? And.. Well.. Learn to Wowwiki:
Queen Azshara was the beloved ruler of the kaldorei ten thousand years ago, and is the current ruler of the monstrous naga. Entrancingly beautiful and beloved by her people, Azshara began a descent into madness when she was corrupted by the Dark Titan Sargeras, master of the Burning Legion. After her defeat at the hands of Malfurion Stormrage, and the Great Sundering that sent her and much of her Highborne into the depths of the sea, Azshara was transformed into the Empress of Nazjatar — progenitor of the serpentine naga. Azshara is the greatest mortal mage ever to live. In fact she may no longer be mortal.

most of that didn't even say what she was, just the history of her becoming a naga. but have you seen the picture of her? she's an octopus. Garshilian, haven't you searched "naga anomalies"? http://www.wowwiki.com/Naga_anomaly
